Materials:
Rectangle canvas
1 large and 1 small Flat paint brush
Acrylic paint – for this guide red, black and white were used
Masking tape
Large piece of scrap paper
Scissors
Pencil

Put a strip of masking tape across lengthwise about 1/3 of the way down
This will be where the top of the water is.

Start about 1/3 of the way to the right and put a strip of masking tape about ½ way down from the first strip of tape.
.This will be where the rocks in the water are

Put a small piece of tape about ¼ of the way up on the top left side. – this will be where the top of the red mountain is.

Put a small piece of tape about ¼ of the way up on the right side. – this will be where the top of the light grey mountain is.

Put a small piece of tape on the right side ½ way between the top tape and the longest tape going across the canvas – this will be the top of the red mountain on the right side.

Put 1 small piece of tape on the top about 1/3 from the left side – this will be a guide for where the red mountain slopes down.

Cut out a bumpy shape that slants down from the 3rd tape on the right.
Notice that its straight bottom edge begins at the lowest tape strip.

Trace the outline very lightly with a pencil.

Reverse the cut out shape and trace the outline very lightly with a pencil.
This will be the reflection and must be the same shape reversed.

Begin filling in the shapes . Leave a space from the pencil outlines – the space is for the white outlines.

Paint all the way to the sides and over the top of the masking tape.

If you want to use the same colors as in the demo paint the cutout shape black.
Remember to paint the sides also.

Add a little white to the black paint to make it a dark grey and fill in the refection area.
Follow the shape down along the bottom side of the canvass.

Put a little of the grey you just used aside for repairs.

Add some more white for a slightly lighter grey and paint the water area and sky.
Remember to paint the continuations of each area on the top and bottom of the canvass.

Put some of this grey aside for repairs.

Add more white to make a lighter grey and paint the highest mountain area.

When the paint has dried completely, use a small brush with white paint to correct the outlines.

If you miss and get paint on the large area wait until it has dried completely and use the paint of the same color you put aside for repairs.
