Taking things apart and putting them back together is a great way for kids and adults to understand how things work. This guide will show you how to make as many copies of a favorite box shape as you want without needing a printed template.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
Empty box made of thin cardboard
Thin cardboard or sturdy paper
Paper glue
Scissor
Pen or pencil

A light bulb box was used for this guide but any box that is easy to take apart will do.
Open the box and carefully separated the glued area

Flatten the box and trace the outline on the cardboard.
Mark along the slits, if there are any.

Fold the outer folds and make a line along the edges.

Fold the inner folds and make a line along the edges

Result
Cut along the outside lines.

Fold along the fold lines

Put glue on the folded side flap.
*Use the original box as a reference if you are unsure where to glue.

That’s it!
You can make as many copies that you need, of any box shape, using this method.
