This guide will show you how to fold an origami tulip. It is a good introduction to the squash fold used in many models. This flower makes a nice decoration for a greeting card.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
1 square piece of paper for the flower
1 square piece of paper of equal size for the stem.
Scissors
Paper glue

Place the square paper you want for the flower with the points at the top, bottom and sides.

Bring the bottom point up to the top to fold it in half

Fold in half vertically .
Unfold

Fold the bottom points upward at an angle.
See next picture for result.

Result

Flip the paper over to the back side

Make a horizontal fold from the 2 top side points to the bottom of the slanted crease points.
unfold

Make a fold from the top middle point to the bottom of the 2 creases you just made in the last step

Stick your finger in between the 2 layers on one side at the top.
Push down half the way along the diagonal crease you just made in the last step.

Squeeze the vertical fold from the outside.

Repeat on the other side.

Result

Flip the paper over to the front side.
The flower paper is finished

Place the square paper for the stem with its points on the top. bottom and sides.

Fold it in half vertically.
Use the crease line to cut the paper in half.

You will be using only one half of the paper to make the stem.

Bring the right bottom corner over to align the right side with the left side.
