To wash your clothes by hand you need a wash tub or basin, or you can plug the sink with a stopper.

Fill the tub or sink with water but leave enough room for clothing.

Check the tag on the garments to see what temperature it suggests.

Most garments can be washed in lukewarm water. Wash, delicates, wool or colors that bleed in cold water

Add a teaspoon or 2 of detergent - you do not need much.

Separate your clothes into groups of dark clothes, colored clothes and white clothes. You cannot wash them together.

If you have colored clothes that bleed they need to be washed alone.

Put the clothes in the water and swish them so that they are completely soaked and soapy.

Let them sit in the soapy water for 3 - 5 minutes.

If there is a stain, you may want to spray the spot with stain remover before you soak the garment.

Now to the action part. You need to rub every part of each garment.

A simply way is to take one part of the garment in each hand and gently rub them together.

If you are washing a delicate garment just swish it up and down in the water.

Empty the tub or the sink and rinse off the soap and grime from the garment until the water flowing in and out of it runs clean without soap.

Now wring out the clothes and hang them to dry.

Don't wring out woolen or delicate clothes. Squeeze them gently
