How to make the Jacob’s ladder toy from toilet paper rolls

Here’s another way to use your empty toilet paper rolls. This guide will show you how to make the Jacob’s ladder toy from materials you have at home

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
3 empty toilet paper rolls
Colored paper
Paper glue
Scissors
Ruler

Squash the 3 rolls flat and cut them in half

Measure the length of the roll from the closed ends
You will need strips of paper twice the length of the tubes and 3/8 inch wide.
Cut 9 strips of 1 color
Cut 6 strips of another color

Coat one side of the squashed toilet paper roll with glue

Press the glued side to the colored paper
Let the glue dry completely

Cut off the extra paper sticking out around the roll.
Repeat steps 4 to 5 for one side of all of the rolls.

Repeat steps 4 to 6 on the other side of the roll with a different colored paper.

Take 3 rolls and glue the 9 strips of 1 color as shown in the picture.
2 strips are along the edge and 1 strip opposite in the middle.

On the other colored side of 2 rolls do the same but with the 6 strips of the different color.

1.Take one of the rolls from step 8 and place it on the table with the strips side on the bottom.
2. Bring the strips up over the edge to the opposite side.
Do not glue it.

Place a roll from step 9 on top with its strips side on the bottom

Bring the strips from the bottom tube up and over and to the opposite side. Glue them in place.

Repeat the process with all the tubes that have strips.
You will be placing the other color on top, folding its own strips over to the opposite side – without glue
Then just placing the next tube on top
Then bringing the strips from the tube under it up over to the opposite side and glue them in place.

When you have finished all the tubes with the strips place the tube without strips on top.
The colored side up should be different than the last color up.

Fold the strips from the tube underneath, glue in place and your Jacobs ladder is finished.
