Materials:
1 toilet paper roll
Scissors
Pencil
Optional: toothpick
 

Flatten the toilet paper roll
Draw 1 small half oval above the center. This will be the head.
Draw a larger half oval below it. This will be the body.
They should be a little less than  1 / 4 of the width of the roll.  
 

Draw a double smaller oval above the head. This will be the pincers.
 

Draw a double straight line from the top of the head to the upper corner.
Draw another double straight line from the top of the body to the lower corner.
These will be the legs.
 

Draw 2 double straight lines  from the head. Make the spaces between the legs equal.
Cut out the spider along the outlines.
 

Cut along the fold to separate the legs.
 

Cut the pincers at an angle to separate them.

Press the legs upward to fold them along the ovals.
 

Flip the spider over to the back side.
Fold the legs up about 1 / 3 of the way from the body.
 

Fold the “feet” downward.
 

Flip the spider over.  Sharpen the folds, if needed and your simple spider is finished.
 

If you want to make your spider more detailed you can color it before you cut it (in step 5)
Use only dry colors. Wetting the cardboard will soften it and it will not be able to hold its shape.
 
Flip the spider to the back side.
 Place a toothpick lengthwise on each leg. Push the sides up along the toothpick.
 

Pinch them to fold them in half lengthwise.
 

Pinch and press the pincers upward.
 

Press  the end of the body lightly against a pencil to give it a slight downward curve.

Your spider is ready!
