How to color a wireframe sphere with stripes in Inkscape

This guide will show you how to use the render sphere extension in Inkscape and how to divide it into individual stripes that you easily fill with color

Difficulty level: Advanced

Instructions:

Inkscape is a free professional vector graphics editor that works on Windows, Linux and macOS. You can download it from https://inkscape.org/

Click on Extensions - Render - Wireframe Sphere

Copy the numbers and checkmark in this menu. Click Apply

Select the globe Click on Object - Ungroup

<p> Click - Transform - Click on the Move Tab</p>
<p> Change Horizontal to 100 - Click Apply</p>

Click - Transform - Click on the Move Tab
Change Horizontal to 100 - Click Apply

Result

Click on Object - Ungroup

<p> Select the circle</p>
<p> Click Path - Object to path</p>

Select the circle
Click Path - Object to path

With the circle still selected - Click lower selection to bottom

Click on the second to bottom curve line.

<p> Click on Object - Transform</p>
<p> Click on the Move Tab</p>
<p> Change Horizontal to -100 (minus 100) Click Apply </p>

Click on Object - Transform

Change Horizontal to -100 (minus 100) Click Apply

Result

<p> Select the curve line and while pressing shift on your keyboard select the circle</p>
<p> Click Path - Division </p>

<p> Click Apply on Transfer - Move </p>

<p> *Click at the top of the circle to prevent selecting the other curve line </p>

<p> Repeat as before</p>
<p> select the second bottom curve line and move</p>
<p> and with that curve line selected - shift on keyboard and select the circle</p>
<p> and Path - Division </p>

<p> * Click at the top of the circle to prevent selecting all of the curve lines </p>

Repeat as before
select the second bottom curve line and move
and with that curve line selected - shift on keyboard and select the circle
and Path - Division

* Click at the top of the circle to prevent selecting all of the curve lines

Repeat the move and division steps for the next 3 curve lines

<p> Select inside each strip and click on alternate colors to fill them</p>
<p> Select each oval on the right and and fill with matching colors</p>
<p> Select the larger of the 2 ovals and click apply on move menu</p>

<p> Select the small oval on the right and click apply to move it</p>
<p> Drag the select box to select all of the stripped circle</p>
<p> Click Object - Group</p>

<p> Your striped globe is ready.</p>
<p> You can Rotate it with the Rotate tab on the Transform menu</p>
