How to make a fruit liqueur
Fruit liqueur is delicious, cheap, easy to make and you don't need any special equipment. It makes a great gift for the holidays.

Tips
if you plan to give the liqueurs as gifts start making them ahead of time.
Warning
The vessels you choose to age and bottle the liqueurs in must be scrupulously clean and tightly sealed. Use only glass or ceramic for aging and storing liqueurs.

Step 1
Ingredients for fruit liqueur: 1 pound of fresh fruit 3 cups good quality vodka (80 percent) 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 cup water - 2

Wash the fruit and cut it into small peices - 3

Put the fruit in a wide mouthed glass jar that has a tight fitting cover. Add the vodka and seal the jar. - 4

Leave the jar in a cool shady place for about 2 to 3 weeks. Give it a stir about once a week. - 5

Strain the fruit, through a cheese cloth, into a bowl. Repeat the straining process several times. - 6

Boil the sugar and water and let it cool.. Pour the strained fruit and vodka mixture into a clean jar and add the cooled sugar syrup . Taste the liqueur. Adjust the flavor if needed by adding 1 tablespoon at a time. If it is too sweet add some more vodka. If it is not sweet enough add more sugar syrup. - 7

Tightly seal the jar and let it stand in a cool shady place for a least a few weeks. Over this time the liquid will clarify and the flavor becomes more mellow. - 8

Pour the liqueur into a nice bottle.
