How to make a pop-up clown card

This guide will show you an easy way to make a clown card with a popup collar. It can be used for invitations to a costume party or birthday party.

    Materials: Stiff paper for the card base – 9 inches X 5 ½ inches was used in this guide. White strip of paper about 11 inches X 1 ¼ inches White and assorted color paper for face and balloons Small glass or round object to trace the face Scissors Paper glue Pen or black magic marker

    Bring the short sides of the card base together to fold it in half

    Trace the outline of the small glass on paper for the face Cut out the circle

    To make the mouth, fold the white piece of paper in half and cut out a heart shape.

    Round off the bottom of the heart shape.

    To make the eyes cut out 2 white diamond shapes as shown in picture

    To cut out the nose make a red balloon shape

    Place the circle at the center of the card base. Its bottom should be a little below half way down from the top. This will give you room to glue the hat. Glue it in place but do not glue all the way to the edges of the circle so you can stick the hair and collar under them. Glue the mouth, eyes and nose as shown in the picture.

    Make a fold about ½ inch on the white strip of paper and then accordion fold it.

    Put a tiny amount of glue on the right side of the end of the accordion folded paper and place it as shown in the picture. Stick the point under the face.

    Put a little glue on the left side of the accordion folded paper opposite the right side. Close the card to see if it folds nicely. Adjust if needed and then glue it in place.

    For the hair cut out 6 pieces as shown in the picture. Stick the ends under the face and glue in place.

    For the hat fold a paper in half and cut out the shape shown in the picture.

    Align the fold of the hat to the crease of the card and glue it on top of the face. Make a line for the rim of the hat. You can cut out balloon shapes as shown in the picture and draw lines for the strings. Your clown pop-up card is ready for your message!
