How to teach your dog to play dead

If you have taught your dog to do basic things like sit, heel and lie down, you can teach him a trick fun to show to friends and family - "Play dead." The idea is to make a gun with the fingers, say "boom" and the dog lies down and ...plays dead.

You can not teach your dog to play dead if you haven't taught him yet to sit and lie down on command. See those guide first.

Step 2

Go with your dog to a place that has no distractions from people and other dogs. Bring with you his or her favorite treats. Hidden from view.

Stand in front of your dog and tell him or her to sit

After he/she sits make a gun shape with your hand ( with the pointer finger and the thumb). Do a shot movement with you finger gun, say "boom" and then tell him/her to lie down and roll over (if she/he does not know the command to roll, never mind, you can help him with a little nudge to lie on the side -( not by force).

After doing these steps give a reward of the treat from your hand

Do the steps a couple of times. *It is important to say "boom" and move your "gun" at the right time, after sit.

לאחר שהכלב ישלוט ברצף, עשו שוב את תנועת האקדח ואמרו בום ללא הפקודות : "שב", "שכב" ו"התגלגל". אם הוא לא מבצע אותן יש צורך לחזור על התהליך עם הפקודות עד שישלוט. לא לשכוח שברגע שיצליח לתת לו פרס (במקרה המדובר אוכל) ולשבח אותו.

לאחר שכלבכם יתרגל לתהליך המעיטו בכמות הפרסים שתיתנו לו לאחר שיבצע בהצלחה את הפקודה והתחילו רק לשבח אותו וללטף אותו.
