The first thing you have to do is cut off the head of the network cable

Use the utility knife or scissors to make a slit about 1 1/2 inches from the end of the cable.
You should see 8 different colored casings

This next step needs to be done very carefully.

Inside of each colored casing is a copper wire. You need to cut off enough of the casing to get to about an inch and a half of the copper wire.

It can be done with a wire cutter by making a cut around the casing. If you can do that without cutting the copper wire inside also.. great!

A lot of people find it hard not to cut the copper wire that way and an other option is to use the utility knife to make a slit 1 1/2 inches from the end and again on the back side.

Gently peel off the casing.Try not to break the copper wire inside.

Do that to of the colored casings
including the ones in the extension cable.

Now that all the copper wires are exposed, we need to connect the matching wires on the two cable.
Of course by matching colors:]. This has to be done very carefully and the connection must a good one so they won't come apart.

Make a cross, with 2 wires that have the same colored casings, close to the cut edge of the casings.

Twist the copper wires around each other. Make sure you get all of the wire into the twist.
Be careful not to have them wrap around a wire in a different colored casing.

Repeat on all the remaining wire, matching colored casings, of course.

Now we have to make sure the wires of different colored casing do not touch each other.

Cut about 8 pieces of electrical tape about 2 inches long.
Take one of the same color twisted wires. Start from about 1/2 an inch up the casing and wrap a piece of tape around it and over the wire until you get to 1/2 an inch up the second casing on the other side.
Go back around the wire if the tape is too long.

Wrap a piece of tape the same way around each of the colors

Now wrap them all together the same way.

That's it, we're done!
You can connect the cable to your computer now.
