Your website should be fast loading. It could be the most interesting, most beautiful site on the Internet, but if it takes too long to load most visitors will not stick around to see.
If it takes more than 30 seconds to load it is too slow.

It is fun to play with all the options and a good learning experience but not good for the the website that you put on line.

Try not to fill your website with too many images, videos, backgrounds and colorful fonts. They slow down loading time.

Learn how to reduce the size of any images you do use.
External media such as videos and slide shows will slow down your site.

Think in the direction of minimalism. Keep it clean, elegant and tidy.

Make sure it is easy for your visitors to navigate your website, if they can't figure it out they will leave.

Consider the first thing they see when they come to your website. It is usually on the top left side. This is where you put the logo because you want the visitor to know what website they are visiting and to remember you.

Next you want to direct the viewers eye to the next important information. You need to attract their eye to a text by making it bolder or a stronger color than rest of the text on the page. You can also use a relevant picture that will attract their attention. The size and contrasting colors of the picture will affect its attraction.

Directly under or next to it should be the main body of your text or message you want to relay.

The menu to navigate your site should be easily seen on the side or near the top of the page. Any buttons should be easy to identify and find.

There needs to be a least a little space around text and pictures.

Try to keep you text as simple and short as possible to relay information. Break it up to smaller parts if you have too. Too much text at one time is harder to read.

Make it easy for your visitors by using the same design for each of the pages on your site. They will know from previous pages exactly where to look for menus and links to other pages.

Make sure your site works well in all types of major browsers.
