This cute origami star makes a nice addition to your origami decorations collection.

Difficulty level: Advanced

Instructions:

Materials:
2 squares of equal size
contrasting colors look best

Both papers are folded in the same way.

Fold in half horizontally. Unfold
Fold in half vertically. Unfold

Fold the 2 sides to the center crease.

Fold the top and bottom edges to the center crease.

Unfold the top fold you made in the last step.

Stick your finger in and fold both sides from the center to the outer edge.
. It will bring the top edge down.

See the next picture for the result.

Flatten the top down to the center crease.

Result
Repeat on the bottom flap.

Fold the top left flap up to the center crease.

Stick your finger in the flap you just folded and squash the bottom.

Push it down from the top to squash flat.

Repeat steps 8 to 9 for the other 3 points.

Fold the sides to the center crease.

Fold the point down along the tops of the flaps you just made.
Unfold

Lift up the flap to the crease you just made.

Fold the edges to the center along the crease lines.

Repeat steps 11 and 12 for the other 3 sides.

Result

Flip the paper over to the back side.
Fold the small flaps towards the center.

Fold your second square paper exactly the same way.

Place one star on top of the other so that the points are between the ones of the paper below it.

Fold up all the little flaps.

Your 8 pointed origami star is finished!
