The first option (and most recommended):
immediately after removing the steak from the fire sprinkle it with black pepper from a pepper grinder.
It is best not to sprinkle salt, because salt hardens the steak.
If you still insist, use just a little

Another option is to take a bottle of water (16 oz)
Fill it with up to about one third from the bottom, with red paprika, a pinch of cayenne pepper and black pepper, add water to fill up the bottle and shake well.

A few hours before the barbecue pour the liquid on the steaks to absorb and soak them well.
