How to cut a whole chicken into parts for cooking

This guide will show you how to cut a whole chicken into parts. You need to be comfortable using a very sharp knife and with the idea. *Warning - This guide is not for the faint of heart.

Difficulty level: Advanced

Instructions:

You will need a very sharp knife
A whole chicken
*Optional – disposable plastic gloves

Butchers seem to cut so easily. One of the secrets is a very sharp knife.
Sharpen you knife well and wash it.

Start by cutting off both wings.
Pull a wing outwards and cut the joint by letting the blade follow through at the curve of the joint

Next cut both legs
Put the chicken on its back
Pull a leg outwards and cut the skin between the leg and the body

Pull the leg outwards

Cut through the meat between the tail and hip joint

Pull the leg away to separate the meat from the bone and cut through the remaining skin

Cut along each side of the back bone

This is what it should look like

Pull off the neck
Cut through the rib joints

Hold both sides, push the middle up and bend back both sides

Turn over
Pull up the skin
Cut the thin connections and pull off the skin

Follow the bone to cut the breast off

Wash off the chicken parts, remove any stickers
and the chicken pieces are ready for cooking

Warnings

*warning – cutting with a sharp knife can be dangerous – be very, very careful Work only on clean surfaces with clean knife Do not use the knife afterwards (or anything else raw chicken touches) before washing it very well.
