How to Fold a Napkin with a Pocket: Easy DIY for Any Occasion
Learn how to fold a napkin with a pocket for cutlery or party favors. This simple DIY napkin fold is perfect for beginners, kids, holidays, and dinner parties.
What You'll Need
- 1 square fabric napkin (ironed)
Fold a square fabric napkin into a pocket to hold cutlery or small favors. Works for holidays, brunch, or parties.
Prepare the Napkin
Lay the clean, ironed napkin flat on a smooth surface. Ensure it is square and wrinkle-free.
Fold in Half
Fold one edge to meet the opposite edge, forming a rectangle. Press the crease firmly.
Fold in Half Again
Fold the rectangle in half, bringing the short ends together to form a smaller square. Position the square so the open edges face away from you.
Create the Pocket
Take the top layer of the napkin from the open corner nearest you and fold it diagonally toward the center. The corner should meet the center point.
Secure the Sides
Flip the napkin over. Fold the right side inward by about 1 inch (2.5 cm), then repeat with the left side. Press firmly.
Finish and Use
Turn the napkin back over so the pocket faces up. Adjust the folds to open the pocket. Insert cutlery or a small favor.
Crisp Creases
Press each fold with your hand or a flat object to keep the pocket shape neat.
