How to make a 7 petal flower

This guide will show you an easy way to cut, align and shape 7 petals into a three dimensional flower.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

<p> Materials:</p>
<p> Paper for the petals</p>
<p> Paper for the stamen</p>
<p> Scrap paper</p>
<p> Paper glue stick</p>
<p> Skewer or similar shaped object</p>
<p> Scissors</p>
<p> Bottle cap</p>
<p> </p>

<p> Cut 7 rectangles for the petals.</p>
<p> In this guide they are 1 1/4 inches X 2 1/2 inches (3 cm X 6 cm)</p>
<p> The width should be about the same as the bottle cap and the length 2X’s the width</p>
<p> Cut a piece of scrap paper the same size</p>

<p> Fold the scrap paper in half lengthwise</p>

Fold the bottom right point up to the crease

<p> Trace the outline of the bottle cap on another piece of scrap paper.</p>
<p> Cut out the circle.</p>

<p> Fold the circle in half.</p>
<p> Fold it in half again.</p>
<p> Unfold</p>

<p> Align the crease of the circle to the crease on the scrap paper.</p>
<p> Trace the curved edge of the circle.</p>

Use the line you traced to cut the curve.

<p> Place the scrap paper on top of the petal paper.</p>
<p> Make sure they are aligned.</p>
<p> Fold the bottom corner up along the fold of the scrap paper.</p>
<p> Cut the top using the scrap paper as a guide.</p>
<p> Do this to all 7 petal papers</p>

<p> Take 2 petal papers.</p>
<p> Align the bottom edge of the top paper to fold of the petal beneath it.</p>
<p> Pay attention that the left ends of both folds meet. Glue the top fold in place.</p>

Repeat until you have glued all 7 petals.

Lift the last petal up and over the first petal to glue it in place. This will make a slight cone shape.

<p> Flip the flower over to the back side.</p>
<p> Put glue on the edges sticking up and press them in place. You do not want to flatten the cone shape so stick a finger underneath to press against.</p>

Result

<p> Flip the flower over to the front again.</p>
<p> Roll the petal tips a little bit with the skewer.</p>

Cut a fringe on the stamen paper.

<p> Roll up the paper on the skewer. When you get to the end of the roll put glue along the edge. Do not put glue where the fringe is.</p>
<p> Remove the rolled paper from the skewer.</p>
<p> Twist it up to the fringe.</p>

Push the point of the skewer through the center of the flower.

<p> Insert the twisted end of the stamen into the hole. Pull it through until the fringe.</p>
<p> Fluff the fringe and you flower is ready.</p>
