How to Draw Faces on Empty Toilet Paper Rolls
Draw faces on clean toilet-paper tubes with markers. Optional paper cutouts are extra, not required.
What You'll Need
- Empty toilet paper rolls
- Washable markers
- Kids scissors
- White glue stick
Markers and a glue stick cover this if you already have empty rolls.
Use empty toilet-paper tubes as a small cylinder you can draw on. Markers are enough. Let each tube dry if you wipe it first; leftover paper dust smears ink.
Clean the tubes
Use dry, empty rolls. Peel leftover paper. Don’t paint a base coat unless you want to wait for drying; the cardboard already takes marker.
Draw the face
Draw eyes, brows, nose, and mouth with a marker. Keep features large — the tube is only about 4 inches tall. Rotate the tube as you draw so the face sits on one side.
Add a few marks, not a kit
Eyebrows and a simple hairline read better than covering the tube. If you want ears or a hat, cut them from scrap paper you already have and glue them on. Skip googly eyes, beads, and paint unless that’s a separate project.
Stand them up
Stand the tubes on a shelf. For a puppet, tape a stick inside after the ink is dry.
Cut a fringe along the top rim for hair, or cut two slits to slide in paper arms. Same rolls, no extra pack.
