Easy Toilet Paper Roll Crafts: How to Make Little Round Boxes with Kids
Make small round storage boxes from toilet paper rolls and cardboard. A simple recycled craft for kids.
What You'll Need
- Empty toilet paper rolls (2-3 per box)
- Sturdy cardboard (cereal box or similar)
- Craft glue (non-toxic, fast-drying)
- Acrylic paints or markers
- Decorative paper or stickers (optional)
- Scissors (child-safe if kids participate)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Paintbrush (if using paint)
- Small bowls for paint
Turn empty toilet paper rolls and cardboard into small round boxes with lids. Use them to store beads, paper clips, or other tiny items.
Prepare the Toilet Paper Rolls
Decide the height of the box base and lid. For example, make the base 2 inches tall and the lid 1 inch tall. Use a ruler and pencil to mark the roll, then cut along the lines. You will need one section for the base and one for the lid.
Create the Box Base
Place the base roll upright on the cardboard. Trace around its circumference with a pencil. Cut out the circle. Apply glue to one edge of the roll and press it onto the cardboard circle. Hold for a few seconds until secure. Let dry.
Construct the Lid
For the lid, cut two cardboard circles: one that fits snugly inside the lid roll and one slightly larger than the outside. Glue the smaller circle inside the roll at one end. Then glue the larger circle on top of that end to form the lid top. Let dry.
Decorate Your Boxes
Paint the base and lid with acrylic paints or draw designs with markers. Add stickers or wrap with decorative paper if desired. Let everything dry completely before using.
Storage Ideas
Use the finished boxes to store small items like beads, paper clips, or craft supplies. They also make nice gift boxes for tiny presents.
