DIY Cardboard Dominos: Craft Your Own Game from Recycled Materials
Make a full set of dominos from recycled cardboard. Simple, eco-friendly, and ready in about 1-2 hours plus drying time.
What You'll Need
- Cardboard (recycled, flat)
- White glue
- Black marker or paint pen
- Scissors or craft knife
- Ruler
- Pencil
Cut cardboard into domino tiles, layer for strength, draw a center line, and add pips. Standard tile size: 2 inches by 1 inch. Total time: 1-2 hours plus drying.
Cut Your Domino Blanks
Cut cardboard into rectangles, each 2 inches by 1 inch. Adjust size if desired. You need 28 tiles for a double-six set.
Layer for Durability
Cut a second identical rectangle for each tile. Glue one on top of the other with white glue. Press firmly and let dry completely.
Divide Each Domino
Using a ruler and pencil, draw a straight line across the middle of each tile, dividing it into two equal halves.
Add the Pips
Using a black marker or paint pen, draw dots (pips) on each half. For a double-six set, include all combinations from 0-0 to 6-6.
Inspect and Dry
Check that all pips are clear and correct. Let marker or paint dry fully before playing. Optionally, seal with clear varnish for extra durability.
