Easy Origami Envelope: How to Fold for Kids & Beginners
Learn how to make a simple paper envelope with this easy origami guide for children. Perfect for beginners, with step-by-step instructions.
What You'll Need
- One square sheet of paper (6x6 inches or 15x15 cm; or cut an A4/Letter sheet into a square)
- Hands
- Flat surface
Fold a square sheet of paper into a simple envelope. This project uses basic folds and is suitable for kids and beginners.
Step 1: Prepare Your Paper
Place the square paper on a flat surface. Rotate it so it looks like a diamond, with one corner pointing toward you and the opposite corner pointing away.
Step 2: Fold the Bottom Corner Up
Take the corner closest to you and fold it upward. Align its tip with the center of the diamond. Press down to make a sharp crease.
Step 3: Fold the Side Corners In
Fold the left corner inward toward the center line, letting it slightly overlap the previous fold. Repeat with the right corner, keeping both sides symmetrical.
Step 4: Fold the Top Corner Down
Fold the top corner down to meet the center. Tuck the tip into the pocket created by the side folds to secure the envelope.
Tip
Make sharp creases by running your fingernail or a ruler along each fold. This keeps the envelope neat and functional.
Warning
Ensure the side folds are symmetrical and meet without large gaps. Otherwise, the envelope may be misshapen or not hold closed properly.
