How to fold a traditional origami butterfly

   Materials: 1 square piece of paper

   Place your square paper with the points on the top, bottom and sides. Fold it in half horizontally. Unfold

   Fold the paper in half vertically. Unfold

   Flip the paper over to the back side. Fold the paper in half horizontally and unfold

   Fold the paper in half vertically and unfold

   Flip the paper over to the other side. Pinch all the diagonally folds. Continue to squeese them and the horizontally folds will fold inward.

   Continue squeezing

   and flatten This is called the water bomb base

   Fold the 2 bottom points up to top point.

    Flip the paper over to the back side. Fold the point of one layer at the bottom up as far as it will go. See next picture for result.

    Pull the 2 little flaps towards the center. Their sides should come up

    Stick your finger into the 2 flaps sticking up and adjust them so that they are equal. Press down on the flaps to crease and flatten them

    Flip the paper over to back side. Fold down the triangle at the top.

    Fold up the tip of the triangle you just folded.

    Fold a wing down at an angle. Flip the paper over and repeat on the other side. Make sure the folded wings are aligned.
