Easy Origami Heart: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide for Kids
Fold a paper heart with this simple step-by-step guide. Great for Valentine's Day, cards, or fun.
What You'll Need
- One square sheet of paper, 6x6 inches (15x15 cm)
Fold a square sheet of paper into a heart shape. This project uses basic folds and takes about 5 minutes.
Start with a Square Base
Place the paper colored-side up. Fold in half horizontally, crease, and unfold. Then fold in half vertically, crease, and unfold.
Fold into a Triangle
Turn the paper over. Fold the bottom edge up to the top edge to make a rectangle. Crease well. Unfold. Now fold the top-left corner down to the center crease, and the top-right corner down to the center crease, forming a triangle.
Create the Top Flaps
Fold the top layer of the bottom edge up to meet the bottom of the triangle. Crease firmly. Fold the two small triangular flaps at the top corners inward toward the center.
Form the Heart's Top Curves
Fold down the tips of the two small triangular flaps slightly to create rounded corners. Crease well.
Refine the Shape
Flip the paper over. Adjust any creases to make the heart symmetrical. Press down on the folds to flatten.
Use patterned paper or write a message on the back of the finished heart.
