How to Fold an Easy Origami Cat: Fun Paper Craft for Kids
Learn how to make an origami cat with these step-by-step instructions. Suitable for kids and beginners.
What You'll Need
- 1 square sheet of paper (6x6 inches or 15x15 cm)
- Markers or colored pencils (optional, for face)
Fold a simple origami cat from a single square sheet of paper. This project uses basic folds and takes about 5 minutes.
Prepare the Paper
Place the square paper on a flat surface with one corner pointing toward you.
Fold the Triangle Base
Fold the paper in half diagonally by bringing the bottom corner up to meet the top corner. Press firmly to create a crisp crease. You should have a triangle.
Fold Up the Chin
Take the bottom point of the triangle and fold it upward. Fold about 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) depending on paper size. This forms the chin and neck.
Form the Ears
Take the top two corners of the triangle (the ones pointing sideways) and fold them downward and slightly outward. Adjust the angle to make ears that look right.
Add the Face
Flip the paper over. Use markers or colored pencils to draw eyes, a nose, whiskers, and a mouth.
Customize
Color the ears, add spots or stripes, or glue on googly eyes to make your cat unique.
