How to Fold Bathroom Hand Towels with a Pocket
Fold a cotton hand towel so one end tucks into a pocket. The fold holds on a towel rack without clips.

- Cotton hand towels (set)
A cotton hand towel is enough to practice this fold.
This fold puts a pocket at one end of a hand towel so the other end tucks in. Use a dry cotton towel on a table or counter. Soft or thick towels need a slightly shallower pocket.
Lay the towel flat
Lay a clean, dry hand towel flat. Smooth out wrinkles so the edges line up.
Fold in half lengthwise
Fold the towel in half along its long edge. Match the corners before you crease.
Fold up one end for the pocket
Fold one short end toward the center, about one-third of the towel’s length. That flap is the pocket. A smaller fold makes a shallower pocket that holds better on a thick towel.
Fold on a table or counter, not a bed. A soft surface rounds the edges.
Fold the long sides into thirds
Fold one long side in by about a third, then fold the other long side over it. You should have a narrow rectangle with the pocket flap still at one end.
Flip
Turn the towel over so the smoother face is up. Straighten the edges if they drifted.
Don’t yank when you flip. The pocket fold is only creased, not sewn.
Tuck the other end into the pocket
Take the end opposite the pocket and slide it into the flap until it sits fully inside. That locks the rectangle.
Hang it
Hang the folded towel on a rack with the pocket facing out, or stack it on a shelf. If it sags, unfold once and make the pocket a little smaller.
