How to make a memory game in a CD case.

Games in CD cases are great for travel and easy to store because they don’t take up much room. Memory games are a great teaching tool. They can be made to suit your child’s age and interests.

Materials:

Old CD case

Thick cardboard

Scissors

Paper glue

Colored paper – only little squares are needed. You can cut them from scrap paper, magazines, junk mail and wrapping paper

Remove the paper and plastic that holds the CD.

Take the paper from the CD and fold it in half vertically.

Fold it in half again

Result

Unfold all the folds

Fold the paper in half horizontally

Fold it in half horizontally again

Unfold all the folds. The paper should have 16 squares.

Cut out 1 of the squares.

Trace the square 2 times on 8 different colored papers.

Cut out the squares.

Glue the colored squares to the cardboard.

When the glue has dried cut out the squares.

Result

This can be used as a simple color matching game for young children to learn colors.

The players take turns flipping 2 squares over to the colored side.

If the colors match they take the squares. The winner has the most pairs.
