DIY Butterfly Magnets from Junk Mail
Turn junk mail into butterfly magnets for your fridge.
What You'll Need
- Junk mail, magazines, catalogs, or greeting cards (colorful/patterned)
- Small craft magnets (self-adhesive or plain)
- Scissors
- Pencil or pen
- Optional: butterfly stencil or template
- Optional: hot glue gun (adult use)
Recycle colorful junk mail into butterfly-shaped fridge magnets. Use paper from magazines, catalogs, or greeting cards.
Cut Butterfly Shapes
On the blank side of the paper, draw butterfly outlines with a pencil. For symmetry, fold paper in half, draw half a butterfly along the fold, cut while folded, then unfold. Use a stencil if needed.
Decorate the Butterflies
Add details with markers, pens, or layered paper cutouts. Keep decorations flat so magnets stick well.
Attach Magnets
Peel backing from self-adhesive magnets and press onto the back of each butterfly. For plain magnets, apply hot glue to the magnet and press onto the paper. Let dry.
Use on Fridge
Place the finished butterfly magnets on your refrigerator or any magnetic surface.
Tip
Choose glossy magazine pages for brighter colors. Layer two different papers for a multi-tone effect.

Scissors are sharp. Adult supervision recommended for children. Hot glue can burn—use with care.
