How to Make an Origami Tower Toy: Easy Paper Pagoda for Kids
Fold a paper pagoda tower from square paper. Simple steps for kids and beginners.
What You'll Need
- Square origami paper, 6x6 inch (15x15 cm) – at least 3 sheets, different colors optional
- Flat work surface
- Your hands
This project uses square paper to build a modular pagoda tower. Each unit is folded the same way, then stacked. You need at least 3 units for a stable tower.
Step 1: Prepare the Paper
Place one square sheet on a flat surface, colored side up. If using plain paper, any side works.
Step 2: Fold the Square Base
Fold the paper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Crease well, then unfold. Fold diagonally the other way, crease, and unfold. You now have an X-shaped crease.
Step 3: Fold the Sides
With the paper flat, bring the right corner to the center point and crease. Repeat with the left corner. Then fold the top corner down to the center. You have a smaller square.
Step 4: Form the Roof and Base
Unfold the last two folds (the side corners). Lift the top layer of the bottom corner and fold it upward along the existing creases, flattening into a diamond shape. Flip the paper and repeat on the other side.
Step 5: Refine the Unit
Fold the top triangle of the diamond down to meet the bottom edge. Crease well. Fold the left and right points of the diamond toward the center. This completes one unit.
Step 6: Assemble the Tower
Repeat steps 1–5 for each additional sheet. Stack the units by inserting the pointed bottom of one unit into the pocket of the next. Press gently to secure. Use 3 or more units for a taller tower.
Tip
Use paper with different colors on each side to make the pagoda more visible. Crease firmly with your fingernail for crisp folds.
Warning
Do not use wet or flimsy paper; it will not hold the folds. Keep small parts away from children under 3 years.
