The double fan napkin fold is a classic technique that adds a decorative touch to any table setting. It is simple to master with a square cloth napkin.
Step 1: Prepare the Napkin
Lay the square napkin completely flat on a clean, smooth surface. Smooth out any wrinkles or creases so the napkin is perfectly flat.
Step 2: Fold into a Half Rectangle
Fold the napkin in half horizontally. Bring the bottom edge up to meet the top edge. Press firmly along the fold to create a crisp crease.
Step 3: Create Accordion Folds
Starting from one short end of the half-folded napkin, make accordion folds. Fold a section forward, then flip it back, repeating until the entire length is pleated. Keep the folds even and tight.
Step 4: Fold the Flat Section Diagonally
Gather the accordion-folded section in one hand. With the other hand, take the unpleated one-third section and fold it diagonally downward over the pleats.
