How to make a paper box in the shape of a dreidel

Steps

   Step 1

   
   Materials: Large rectangular paper Scissors Pen Ruler or straight edge Paper glue Bottle cap or small round object

   Place the paper with the short edges at the sides. Make a horizontal fold a little more than a ¼ inch from the top. Crease and unfold. Bring the bottom edge up to the crease line of the fold you just made.

   Fold the bottom edge up to the crease line again. Unfold all the folds

   Fold the bottom right corner up to the bottom horizontal crease line.

   Fold the right edge over the horizontal edge of the triangle you made in the last step.

   Fold the right side over the edge again. Repeat 2 more times.

   Rotate the paper so that the short ends are on the sides There will be paper sticking out. Cut off the extra paper about ½ inch from the edge. Fold the ½ inch edge over to crease. Unfold all the folds.

   Rotate the paper so that the triangle crease is on the bottom right side. Next to the horizontal crease begins the side of a square. Bring the left edge of the square to the right edge of the square. (see the arrow in the picture) Make only a pinch mark to mark the center of the square. You can mark it with a pen if you do not see it clearly. Do the same for the next 3 squares - bring the left edges to the right edges and pinch to mark the center.

   Use a ruler or straight edge to make a straight line from the pinch marks to the top right side of the 4 squares. Cut a slit alone those lines.

    Make a fold from the top left corner of the squares to the bottom point.

    Cut off the area sticking out from the right side of the triangles. ( It may help to flip over the paper to see where they are sticking out.) Be careful not to change the point at the bottom. Cut off the area shown on the left bottom of the picture.

    Draw a line as shown in picture. Make sure that the slanted lines are not cutting off the corners of the top square . Cut along the line.

    Crease along the crease lines.

    Put glue on the underside at the left. Bring the left side over and around to the right side. Align the creases and glue in place. Align the triangles at the crease lines and glue in place.

    Cut off 2 connected squares from the left over paper. Roll it up on a pen or pencil. Glue the end closed.

    Trace a round circle from the glue stick if it is a large one, if not use a bottle cap. Cut out the circle.

    1. Fold the circle in half. Fold it in half again. 2. Cut off the bottom corner of the folded circle about ½ way up. 3. Make 4 slits about 1/2 inch in the tube shape you made around the pen.

    Fold the slits up and put glue as shown. Insert the tube into the hole of the circle. Bring the circle all the way to the end and glue in place. This is the handle

    Glue the circle of the handle to the middle of the top of the dreidel

    You can fill the box and glue the tabs at the top to close it or leave it empty as a decoration. Happy Hanukkah!
