How to make a tangram. Chinese puzzle toy
This guide will show you how easy it is to make a tangram from paper. A Tangram is a Chinese puzzle toy. It comes in the form of a square cut into 2 large triangles, 3 smaller ones, a small square and a parallelogram. The object of the puzzle is to figure out how to place all 7 geometric pieces to copy the shapes in a picture or to create your own. They must be touching but not overlapping.

Step 1
To make a tangram you need: 1 square of paper Scissors Optional: 7 different colored papers - 2
Step 2
A. Place the square paper so that the points are top and bottom and sides Bring the bottom point up to the top to fold in half. Crease sharply B. Result C. Cut along the crease. You now have 2 triangles We will work on only one of the triangles for now. Put the other triangle aside to work on later. - 3
Step 3
A. Place the triangle with the long edge at the bottom .Bring the right bottom corner over to the left bottom corner to fold the triangle in half. Give it a sharp crease B. Result C. Cut along the crease. You now have 2 smaller triangles. These are done. Put them aside - 4
Step 4
A. Take the large triangle you put aside in step 2. With the long edge at the bottom bring the right bottom corner over to the left as if you were going to fold it in half. Do not fold only give it a pinch at the bottom to mark the halfway point. B. Bring the top point down to the pinch mark you just made C. Result. Give it a sharp crease D. Cut along the crease. Take the small triangle and put it aside. You are finished with it. - 5

A. Take the right bottom corner and bring it to the left to fold the paper in half. B. Result. Give it a sharp crease C. Cut along the crease. Put the left piece aside to work on later - 6

A. Take the piece you put aside in step 5 and place it with the long edge at the bottom. Bring the right bottom edge up to the left top edge. B. Result. Give it a sharp crease C. Cut along the crease. - 8

All the pieces have been cut and you now have all the shapes for the tangram. You can stop here and use them as they are or continue. - 9
