Easy Paper Flowers: A Fun Craft for All Ages
Make simple paper flowers with common household materials. Great for decorating, gifting, or adding a handmade touch to any occasion.
What You'll Need
- Construction paper, cardstock, or craft paper (various colors)
- Scissors
- Glue stick or craft glue
- Optional: buttons, beads, or small paper circles for centers
- Optional: green floral wire, pipe cleaners, or drinking straws for stems
- Pencil
Create colorful paper flowers using basic supplies. Each flower uses one sheet of paper for petals and a small scrap for the center. You can attach stems for a full arrangement.
Step 1: Choose Your Paper
Select colors for your flower. Use one sheet for petals and a small scrap for the center (if not using a button or bead).
Step 2: Fold and Cut the Petals
Fold the main paper sheet in half, then in half again to make a smaller rectangle. Draw half of a petal shape along the folded edge.
Step 3: Create the Flower Shape
Cut along the drawn line while the paper is still folded. Unfold to reveal a symmetrical flower with multiple petals.
Step 4: Add a Decorative Center
Cut a small circle from contrasting paper and glue it to the center. Or glue a button or bead in the middle.
Step 5: Attach a Stem (Optional)
For a full arrangement, attach the flower to a green floral wire, pipe cleaner, or drinking straw. Secure with glue or tape.
Tip
Use patterned paper for a unique look. For smaller flowers, start with a smaller sheet.
Note
Supervise young children when using scissors.
