How to Wrap a Gift with a Creative Paper Fan Decoration
Wrap a gift with a DIY paper fan decoration on top.
What You'll Need
- 1 sheet wrapping paper (e.g., 20x30 inches, or sized for your gift)
- The gift to wrap
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape or strong craft glue
- Ruler (optional, for precise folds)
Use one sheet of wrapping paper to cover the gift and create a fan decoration on top.
Wrap the Gift
Measure and cut the wrapping paper to fully cover the gift, leaving extra length on one side. Wrap the gift neatly, securing edges with tape or glue.
Create the Paper Fan
Use the extra paper from the wrapped gift, or cut a separate rectangular piece. Fold the paper accordion-style (back and forth) in even pleats, about 1 inch wide. Keep folds crisp and even.
Attach the Fan
Pinch the bottom of the folded fan together. Apply double-sided tape or glue to the pinched base and press it onto the top of the gift. Hold for a few seconds to secure.
Finish the Fan
Spread the pleats of the fan outward to form a semicircle. Adjust the folds as needed to make the fan even and stable.
Crisp Folds
Use a bone folder or the blunt side of scissors to crease each fold firmly for a sharp, professional look.
Even Pleats
Pleat gently but firmly. Uneven or loose folds can make the fan lopsided. Keep hands clean to avoid smudging the paper.
