Kids Drawing Game: Pen & Paper Activity
A two-player drawing game where one player makes a random mark and the other turns it into a picture.
What You'll Need
- Paper (printer paper, notepad, or drawing pad)
- Pencils or pens
This is a two-player drawing game. One player makes a random mark on paper, the other turns it into a recognizable drawing. Swap roles each round.
Set Up
Each player has a pencil or pen. Place a sheet of paper on a flat surface. Decide who starts as the Starter.
Starter Draws a Mark
The Starter draws a quick, abstract line, squiggle, or shape on the paper. Do not try to draw anything specific. Keep it simple and fast.
Tip
Draw without overthinking. A random mark leads to more creative results.
Pass the Paper
The Starter passes the paper to the Finisher without saying what the mark is supposed to be.
Warning
The Starter must not reveal their intention. This keeps the challenge for the Finisher.
Finisher Completes the Drawing
The Finisher looks at the mark and turns it into a complete picture. They can add lines, shapes, or details. The goal is to make a recognizable object or scene.
Swap Roles
After the drawing is done, swap roles. The Finisher becomes the Starter for the next round. Use a new sheet of paper each round.
Tip
Set a time limit of 1–2 minutes for each turn to keep the game moving.
