How to make Paper Kanzashi Flowers

Traditional Kanzashi flowers are made from folded squares of silk and worn by Japanese Geishas. This guide will show you how to make these gorgeous flowers from paper.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

To make Paper Kanzashi Flowers you need:
12 or more squares of paper for the petals
1 square for the stamen
Paper glue
Scissors

Place a paper for the petal with the points at top, bottom and sides.
Bring the bottom point up to the top point and fold in half

Bring the side points up to the top point. Make a sharp crease. Unfold
Put glue on the top point and refold

Flip the paper over to the back side. The open end should be at the bottom.
Bring the side points together and pinch a fold only half of the way down.

Bring the side points to the center crease. Give them a sharp crease and unfold them.
Put glue on the points and refold

Apply glue as shown in picture. Pay attention not to put glue too high.
Bring the two side together as if you are folding it in half but do not crease the top part.

This is the front view

Turn it on the side with the points at the top and the open side on the right.
Make a straight cut at the point the right side begins to slant.
Repeat steps 2 to 9 for all the petals

Glue 2 petals together close to the bottom straight edge. Let the glue dry
