Woven Star of David from Paper Strips
Make a woven Star of David using paper strips. Simple craft for kids or holiday decoration.
What You'll Need
- Construction paper or cardstock, 2 colors (e.g., blue and white), 2 sheets each
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Pencil (optional)
Weave six paper strips into a Star of David. Use two colors for contrast. Finished star can be hung or used as decoration.
Cut Strips
Cut six strips, each 1 cm wide and 20 cm long. Use a ruler and pencil to mark, then cut straight. Three strips from each color.
Weave the Base
Lay three strips vertically, parallel. Weave three horizontal strips over and under to create a tight square center. Keep the weave snug.
Form First Triangle
From the center, take three adjacent ends that form one side. Fold them upward to meet at a point, creating a triangle. Tuck the ends under the weave to hold.
Form Second Triangle
Turn the work over. Repeat the same folding with the remaining three ends on the opposite side, forming the second triangle. Tuck ends securely.
Trim and Finish
Trim any excess strip ends close to the weave. Adjust the points to be even. Your Star of David is complete.
Tip
Use a tight weave and even strips for a symmetrical star. If strips are too long, trim after folding.
