    To make a dreidel from a pencil you will need: Cardboard A short pencil Colors such as magic markers or colored pencil Scissors Scrap paper A bottle cap and coffee cup or similar sized round object to trace circles

    Trace the bottle cap 3 times on the cardboard and one time on scrap paper Trace the coffee cup 1 time on the cardboard and 1 time on the scrap paper Cut out the circle shapes

    Fold the large and small paper circles in half

    Fold them in half again

    Place the large paper circle on top of the large cardboard circle and press the pen hard enough into the center to mark the cardboard underneath. Place the small paper circle on top of the small cardboard circles and press the pen hard enough into the center top mark the cardboard underneath.

    Push the point of the pencil through the circles at the marked points. Remove the pencil.

    Fold the large paper circle in half. Place it on top of the large cardboard circle and mark the line.

    Align the line you just made with the crease of the folded in half paper circle and mark the line

    Color each of the quart divisions with a different color.

    If you live outside of Israel, write the letters - נ – ג – ה – ש one in each of the colored quarters If you live in Israel, write פ instead of ש

    Put glue on the 3 small cardboard circles and insert the point of the pencil through the holes. Make sure the circles are touching so they will all be glued together.

    When the glue has dried your dreidel is ready to spin. *The point of the pencil makes a mark so make sure you spin it on a piece of paper or on a surface that it doesn’t matter. Have fun!
