How to make a paper bracelet from strips of paper

Steps

1. 1

   Step 1

   

   Materials:

   Colored paper

   Elastic string

   Sewing needles

   Scissors

   Cutting board

   Crafts knife

   Styrofoam tray or a piece of corrugated cardboard.

   Optional:

   Thimble and plyers

   Step 2

   

   Cut strips of paper 3 inches wide and then cut them into 3 / 4 inch strips.

   Step 3

   

   Measure and cut a strip of paper that wraps comfortably around your wrist.

   Cut as many 3 X  3 / 4 inch strips needed to equal the length.

   Take 2 of the 3 x 3 / 4 inch strips.

   Place 1 horizontally and the second on top of it vertically.

   Align the left and top edges.

   Mark the right edge of the top strip on the one below.

   Make a diagonal line from the left top point to the bottom right point.

   Mark a diagonal line from the right top point to the bottom left point.

   The result  is an X .

   Repeat on the other end.

   Make a dot at the center of the X’s.

   Pierce a hole through the 2 dots.

   This is your hole template.

    Align the hole template on top of one of the strips and punch a hole at each dot.

     

    *It will be easier later if the needles you use to punch the holes are wider than the needles you use to string the paper strips.

    Punch holes in all the paper strips.

    Thread the elastic thread through a needle and knot the end.

    Push the head of the needle through a hole on some strips.

    Pull the strips onto the elastic thread.

     

    *It may be easier to grasp the pointed side  of the needle with plyers when you pull the strips over the eye of the needle.

    Continue until you have strung all the strips.

    Thread and knot another elastic thread and push the needle  through the bottom holes.

    Continue until you have pulled the string through all the bottom holes.

    Adjust the strips so that they are close together.

    Bring the sides together. Tie the strings with a double or triple knot.

    Cut off the excess thread and your paper bracelet is ready!
