How to make a paper mache bell from a lemon

Steps

   Materials: Lemon or any other fruit with a dome shaped top Scrap paper Paper glue stick Scissors Plastic bag Straight pin, needle or similar sharp pointed object Optional: baking foil, string and a bead

   Put the lemon or other fruit with a dome shaped top into a plastic bag. Make a tight knot at the bottom of the lemon

   Rip scrap paper into small pieces

   Take one of the ripped papers and slide it across the top of the glue stick to coat the bottom with glue. Press it against top of the lemon.

   Cover the lemon more than half way down. When you have finished a layer all around smear glue over the paper

   Smooth the paper with your finger.

   Cover the lemon with 2 more layers of scrap paper. Coat each layer with glue and smooth it out. Cover it with a final layer of the color you want the bell to be.

   Coat it with glue and smooth it down.

   When the glue has dried cut off the knot and take out the lemon.

    Gently remove the plastic bag from the inside.

    Cut a straight edge around the bottom

    Coat the bottom of a piece of ripped paper with glue and place it on the edge.

    Fold and smooth the paper over the edge. Continue gluing paper until you have cover all of the edge.

    Run the glue stick along the edge. Smooth out the edge with your finger. *The shape of the bell is finished. You can paint or decorate it at this point or wait until step 19

    Punch a small hole through the top of the shape with a sharp pointed object. Here a straight pin was used.

    Now we will use baking foil to make the ball and loop for hanging the bell. If you want to use bead on a string or wire, skip to step 19 and just thread it through the hole. Push the point of a skewer through the hole to make it bigger.

    Crumple a piece of toilet paper or tissue into a small ball. Put it inside a piece of foil and shape it into a ball with a tail

    Put the ball with the tail at the end of a skewer and roll it up in a piece of foil. Pull the skewer out and squeeze the foil tightly to make a ball on a stick shape.

    Slide the foil shape through the hole of the bell

    Pull it through until the bottom half of the ball is sticking out. Twist a loop at the top. You can decorate your bell with colored papers, paint, strings, sequins, beads , colored pasta etc. enjoy!
