How to make a rose from crepe paper

Steps

   Materials: Crepe paper Wire Floral tape Scissors Paintbrush, skewer or similar rounded stick

   Cut 1.5 inch wide strips with the lines of the crepe paper going up and down. You will need 3 strips for each flower

   Cut the strips into 3.5 inch long pieces. You need 15 pieces for each flower.

   Round out the tops with a little point at the center.

   Round out the sides until about 1/3 of the way and then cut straight up.

   Repeat on the other side. See the picture for the results.

   Roll the pointed end, with the paintbrush or skewer, to give it a curled end. Repeat on all the petals except one. The petal that is not curled will be used for the center of the flower.

   Hold a petal with the curl side down. . With your thumbs at the center, push in and then a little to the sides to stretch it into a cup shape. Repeat on all the petals with the curled ends.

   Place the wire at the side of the one petal you did not curl. See the picture.

    Roll up the petal on the wire.

    Take a stretched petal and place it with the curled edge facing outwards and a little higher than the first petal. Bring the sides around the wire.

    Continue adding the remaining 13 petals by over lapping the edge at the middle of the previous petal.

    Wrap the floral tape tightly at the base of the flower.

    Twist the straight ends of the petals around the wire.

    Continue wrapping the floral tape over the wrapped ends and down the wire. Break off the tape just below the wire, fold it back over and twist it to make a neat end. Your rose is finished!
