How to make beautiful designs by weaving circles
This guide will show you how to make slits at an angle on two circles and weave them into beautiful designs. You can use them to decorate cards or as hanging decorations..
What You'll Need
- paper weaving
- circle design
- decorations
Steps
- 1
Step 1
Materials: Circular object to trace circles- about 3 inches wide 2 different colored papers for each woven circle Scissors Ruler Pen or pencil Optional protractor - 2
Step 2
Trace the outline of the circular object 2 times for each woven circle. One of one color and the second of another color. Then cut the circles out. - 3
Step 3
Fold a circle in half horizontally and then in half vertically. - 4
Step 4
Fold one of the quarters in thirds. If you have trouble doing it by sight you can measure it with a protractor. - 5
Step 5
Unfold and use the creases you just made as guides to fold the circle in half 3 more times. - 6
Step 6
Repeat steps 3 to 5 for the second circle. Measure and mark from the center up each crease line half an inch . - 7
Step 7
Make cuts from the edge of the crease line to the dot on the next crease line. Repeat in the same direction on for all the creases. - 8
Step 8
Take 1 circle and place it on top of the other of a different color with its cuts going in the opposite direction. - 9
Step 9
Push from the back and the point of the circle underneath should come forward and overlap the one on top. - 10
Step 10
Repeat for all the slits. Adjust them by gently pulling the bottom circle to one direction and the top to the opposite direction. - 11
Step 11
Push from the back again so that the tip of the circle underneath comes forward and overlaps the one on top. - 12
Step 12
Repeat on all the tips. - 13
Step 13
The colors of the back side will be the opposite of the front side. - 14
Step 14
To make different variations measure a different distance from the center along the crease lines for each pair of circles. In the variation show in the next picture a dot was marked 1.5 inches from the center. - 15
Step 15

Step 16
Here are both sides of the 2 variations. You can experiment with different colors, different number of slits and different distances to mark from the center. Have fun!
