How to Make Chrysanthemums from Toilet Paper Rolls
Turn empty toilet paper rolls into chrysanthemum flowers. Recycled craft for home decor or kids.
What You'll Need
- Empty toilet paper rolls (3–5 per flower)
- Craft glue or hot glue gun with glue sticks
- Acrylic paint (yellow, orange, pink, green for leaves)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Clothespins or small clips (optional, for holding petals while drying)
Use 3–5 empty toilet paper rolls per flower. Cut, shape, and glue the cardboard into layered petals. Paint as desired.
Step 1: Prepare Rolls
Flatten each toilet paper roll. Use a ruler and pencil to mark lines 0.5–1 inch (1.5–2.5 cm) apart along the length. Cut along the lines to create cardboard rings.
Step 2: Shape Petals
Take each ring and pinch one end to form a pointed petal shape, leaving the other end rounded. Optionally, pinch both ends slightly for a different look.
Step 3: Assemble Outer Layer
Arrange 8–10 shaped petals in a circle with pointed ends facing outward. Apply a dot of glue to the rounded ends and press them together. Hold with clips if needed. Let dry.
Step 4: Add Inner Layers and Center
Glue additional layers of petals inside the outer circle, each layer smaller and more upright. For the center, cut a small circle from contrasting colored paper or cardboard and glue it in the middle. Let dry completely.
Tip
Paint the petals before assembly for easier coverage. Use green rolls for leaves if desired.
