Easy DIY Silver Napkin Rings: Upcycle Toilet Paper Rolls and Aluminum Foil
Turn toilet paper rolls and aluminum foil into silver napkin rings for your table setting.
What You'll Need
- 6-8 empty toilet paper rolls (or paper towel rolls, cut down)
- 1 roll standard aluminum foil
- Craft glue (PVA, white school glue, or tacky glue)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Craft knife (optional, for cleaner cuts)
- Cutting mat (if using craft knife)
- Small brush or applicator (optional, for glue)
Use empty toilet paper rolls and aluminum foil to make metallic napkin rings. Quantities are for 6-8 rings.
Step 1: Prepare the Bases
Measure and mark each toilet paper roll at 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5-3.8 cm) wide. Cut along the marks with scissors or a craft knife on a cutting mat. You need 6-8 rings.
Step 2: Wrap with Foil
Cut aluminum foil pieces large enough to wrap around each ring with a 1/2 inch (1.2 cm) overlap. Apply a thin layer of glue to the outside of the ring, then press the foil over it, smoothing out wrinkles. Fold the foil edges inside the ring.
Step 3: Smooth and Dry
Use the back of a spoon or your finger to press the foil firmly against the ring, removing air bubbles. Let the glue dry completely, about 30-60 minutes.
Step 4: Finish and Use
Trim any excess foil from the edges. Slide a napkin through each ring and set the table.
Tip
Cut all rings to the same width for a uniform set.

For a smoother finish, use the back of a spoon to press the foil.
